Coronavirus Questions & Answers

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is causing much uncertainty for everyone. Leavers.com.au will take all the uncertainty out of your upcoming Leavers holiday in 2020 by answering the following frequently asked questions.

1. Is Leavers 2020 still on?

There are currently no restrictions that have been put in place by government over the dates of your holiday that will restrict you from celebrating Leavers with your friends.

2. Why do I keep hearing rumours that Leavers is cancelled?

Leavers occurs whenever and wherever groups of young people gather to celebrate the completion of Year 12. It is not controlled by one organisation or destination. Some of the optional events and activities typically associated with Leavers that may be organised by government agencies or other enterprises may be need to be withdrawn or adjusted to fit in with restrictions, however changes to these events or activities does not mean that your Leavers holiday is cancelled.

As long as travel restrictions are lifted, you will be permitted to travel on your Leavers holiday to celebrate graduation with your friends. All other restrictions such as social distancing will need to be adhered to during your stay and these will be communicated closer to arrival. These will be the same restrictions that apply to the general population at that time of travel.

3. I haven’t yet booked for Leavers 2020, should I?

Yes! All students deserve the opportunity to celebrate the end of their school years. We are hopeful that Leavers will go ahead this year, but in the event you are not permitted to check-in to your accommodation due to Government restrictions, we’ve got you covered.

4. What happens if restrictions are in place when my final payment is due?

Leavers.com.au will not be requesting final payments from any students for their Leavers holiday if government restrictions mean that they will be unable to travel to their chosen destination.

If government restrictions at time of final payment mean that you are unable to travel to and check into your Leavers accommodation on the original dates, the dates of your Leavers holiday will be amended to a date in early 2021, which will be no later than 28 Feb 2021. Once a new date has been set your booking will automatically be updated to the new Leavers dates.

5. What if I am unable to attend on the new Leavers dates?

If the Leavers dates are changed to a date later than the end of December 2020 and you are unable to attend on the new dates, the following will apply:

  • You will receive a refund of all monies paid over and above the non-refundable deposit (excluding existing amendment fees and credit card charges if applicable).
  • You will receive a Credit Voucher for the non-refundable deposit.

6. Will I get a refund if Government Restrictions prevent me from checking into my Leavers accommodation?

If within 30 days of your original travel date Government restrictions are going to prevent you from checking-in to your Leavers accommodation by the end of 2020, you will have the following options:

  • Celebrate Leavers on the new Leavers date, which will be confirmed closer to the time and will take place in early 2021 and no later than 28 Feb 2021.
  • Receive a full refund of monies paid over and above the non-refundable deposit (excluding existing amendment fees and credit card charges if applicable).
  • Receive a Credit Voucher for the non-refundable deposit.
  • If you have a valid booking at the time the restrictions were implemented you will have the option to apply for a full refund of your non-refundable deposit. If you have cancelled prior to these restrictions or have not paid in full by the final payment deadline, you will receive a credit voucher for your non-refundable deposit. All other monies paid will be refunded in full (excluding existing amendment fees and credit card charges if applicable). Refund requests will be available from 30* days prior to your travel date and must be received by 1 March 2021. This option is only available if you have not already used, exchanged or sold your credit voucher.

7. How can I use my Credit Voucher?

Credit Vouchers will be valid for 3 years. You can use your Credit Voucher in any of the ways listed below.

  • Make a new booking for a special event called “Green Light Australia” that we will hold in December 2021, if the 2020 graduation class is not permitted to check in due to Government Restrictions by the 28th of February 2021. More information to be provided at a later date.
  • Make a new booking for Leavers in 2021, 2022 or 2023.

8. What if I don’t want a Credit Voucher?

You can give or sell your Credit Voucher to another person without limitations. For example, you may have a brother, sister, relative or friend who can use the Credit Voucher in any of the ways listed above.

If you do not want a Credit Voucher your options are:

  • Give it away to a sibling or friend who can then book Leavers 2021, 2022 or 2023 or “Green Light Australia”.
  • Sell it to someone and they can book Leavers 2021, 2022 or 2023 or “Green Light Australia”.

In addition to the above options, if you have a valid booking at the time that Government Restrictions are announced that will prevent you from checking in to your accommodation you will have the option to apply for a full refund of your non-refundable deposit. If you have cancelled prior to these restrictions or have not paid in full by the final payment deadline, you will receive a credit voucher for your non-refundable deposit. All other monies paid will be refunded in full (excluding existing amendment fees and credit card charges if applicable). Refund requests will be available from 30 days* prior to your travel date and must be received by 1 March 2021.

9. Will there be any fees charged if I need to change my booking for 2020?

Effective from 1 March 2020 there will be NO FEES for any changes or amendments to 2020 Leavers bookings for changes made prior to the final payment deadline.

10. How will I know if 2020 Leavers is impacted due to Government restrictions?

We will advise you immediately if government restrictions are going to mean that dates have changed or that you will be unable to check into your accommodation and will automatically send you the information you require to claim a refund or credit voucher.

11. What happens if I cancel my Leavers 2020 booking before the final payment deadline?

If you cancel your booking prior to the final payment deadline your non-refundable deposit will convert to a Credit Voucher. This applies to bookings cancelled due to concerns about COVID-19 from 1 March 2020. If you have paid more than your deposit, all monies paid over and above your non-refundable deposit (excluding existing amendment fees and credit card charges if applicable), will be refunded.

12. What happens if I cancel my Schoolies 2020 booking after the final payment deadline?

If Government restrictions are going to prevent you from checking-in to your Leavers accommodation after the final payment deadline you will be eligible for a full refund. (See question 6 for further information). If you choose to cancel your booking after the final payment deadline and there are no government restrictions that would prevent you from checking into your Leavers accommodation you will forfeit the full cost of the booking excluding bonds.
